HISTORY OF ESSIAC-CAISSE TEA
When Canadian Nurse Rene Caisse found that one of her patients had recoverd from breast cancer by taking a herbal tea given to her by the Shaman of the Ojibway Indian tribe of Ontario, she requested a meeting.
The story began in 1922 when she met the medicine man who gladly gave her the formula that had been handed down through the generations.
The original recipe contained 8 herbs, but after many years of treating patients for cancer she reduced it to four and called it Essiac Tea-her name spelled backwards.
She had been reluctant to pass on the formula,treating many thousands of cancer patients over a 40 +year span guarding her secret very closely until shortly before her death, when she sold the formula for just $2.00.
Her main concern had been that the drug companies would get hold of it and prevent the average person from gaining access to it.
She had also created an injectable version of the herbs, which she injected directly into tumours under medical supervision.
According to the suppliers of the best known version of the formula- "all four herbs normalise body systems by purifying the blood, promoting cell repair and aiding effective assimilation and elimination.When combined, their separate beneficial effects are synergistically enhanced."
The complete story of her 40 years of work is told in a book written by Dr Gary Glum entitled. "The Calling of an Angel"
In 1959, President John F Kennedy's personal physician, Dr Charles Brusch, heard about Caisse and the herbal formula's use as a cancer remedy.
He was so impressed with the effectiveness of the tea, he became her mentor and worked with her for decades.
Despite the naysayers among the medical profession who just don't believe that an herbal remedy for cancer exists, the herbal tea has gained some credibility among mainstream organisations .
A survey funded by the National Institute of Health and carried out by the Univeristy of Texas revealed numerous positive results reported by cancer patients.
The recipe used by Nurse Caisse has been approved by the Mexican Ministry for Health as an herbal remedy for cancer, and is often smuggled in from the US-where it is considerably cheaper.

• The four herbs in the recipe were Burdock Root, Sheep Sorrel, Slippery Elm and Turkey Rhubarb.
• Sheep Sorrel has been used as a folk remedy for centuries. It is also used as a food, the leaves are added to salads and as a tasty vegetable and side dish for meats.
• Burdock Root has long been considered as an excellent tonic by European and Chinese herbalists. It is also used as a food by many native cultures around the world. It is interesting to note it is also a key herb in Hildegard Bingens's 12th Century internal tonic for cancer. Burdock is a member of the daisy family and appears to grow almost everywhere.Certainly in the Ojibway Indian region of Canada.
The Japanese call it 'gobo' and eat it as a sort of Zen austerity.
Scientific studies in Germany (1967) and Japan(1986) concluded that burdock had powerful anti-fungal and anti-bacterial actions.
It is reputed to be such a good blood purifier that it can be used with venomous bites.
Research on burdock is sparse but consistant.Hungarians found anti-tumor actions and the Japanese have identified a desmutagen that they named B-factor in honor of Burdock.
• Slippery Elm's inner bark has a long history of use as a strengthening herbal tonic and as a food supplement. It is rich in vitamin and mineral content and has been credited for saving the lives of many pioneers in the wilds.

COLLOIDAL ZINC
